Sports! Sports! Sports! Everyone seems to be talking about sports in this 21^st century. Sports seem to be playing a very important role in creating a healthy life. Therefore, many countries are fighting for the right of hosting international sporting events.

By competing against each other, the countries will be more aggressive in giving training session to the participants in international sporting events. Therefore, I strongly disagree that hosting such events will have an adverse effect on the economy of a nation.

Firstly, the sports committee can find sponsorship from private companies for the event. This can increase the awareness level of the goods advertised. The organizer or the sports council can obtain their funds from the private sector. With sponsorship from corporations, the organizer will have no problem in hosting the events. Therefore, we are wrong in saying that it is the government which will fork out a lot of money for these events.

Next, the nation can gain fame and popularity by holding international sporting events. A typical example is the Olympics which will be held in this coming August in Beijing, China. Everyone seems to be attracted to the 5 ‘Fu Wa’ which are the symbols for the Beijing Olympics. People are now looking at China with high level of respect. Up-to date technology will also be installed to ensure that everything runs smoothly. This will attract a lot of foreign investors as time goes by. In addition, the nation herself can earn a place in the world of international sports arena.

In addition, the nation will have an increase in revenue from foreign spectators such as accommodation, traveling-costs, food, souvenirs and many others. People are coming from all over the world to watch and participate in these events. This will directly promote the tourism industry of the country. And in the long run, more and more tourists will join the crowd to discover the interesting places of the nation, bringing in a stable flow of revenue.

Furthermore, the beautiful scenery of tourist destinations will surely become an attraction to many people from other countries. They may like to invest or migrate there and this will surely lead to tourist-dollar inflow. In due time, it may raise the standard of living in a country. Moreover, the economy will be stabilized, too.

Some business transactions which occur between local residents and spectators from other nations will also drive up the economy of a country. They will be interested in many aspects, such as food, costumes and lifestyle of local people. They may likely be attracted to the culture of the host nation, and indirectly speed up the development of the nation. Furthermore, the relationship among spectators from different nations will be harmonious, too.

Therefore, regarding the above issue, I strongly state that hosting international sporting events will surely not have an adverse effect on the economy of a nation. In short, a country may advance in many aspects by hosting such events.
