ELECTION FEVER

¡¡

Colourful contestants¡¯ photos gaze from the billboards as a treat,

While banners, depicting different symbols, line every street.

Added to these are the speakers¡¯ fiery speeches, which fill the air,

Attracting groups of supporters, both young and old, like a funfair.

Newspapers are filled with the promises of various party leaders,

Suddenly turning, even the non-book lovers into great readers.

Even women-folk are kept busy in their comfortable houses,

Serving steaming hot drinks to friends, of their spouses.

The all important March 8th dawns bright and clear,

Excitement is obviously felt in the atmosphere.

People of all castes and creed go out to cast their votes,

Safely tucked in their pockets or purses their precious notes.

Then, as the minutes tick by slowly,

The whole country waits patiently,

With bated breath and palpitating heart beats,

Eager, to know the popular winners, of the seats

Finally the votes are counted,

And the results are mounted.

Everyone gives out sighs of relief,

Hopeful, that their candidates do not dash their beliefs.
